Guide covers the three SynetoOS recovery patterns line by line, with the CLI alternatives and the SynetoOS console screenshots showing the operator workflow.
Use this when you need to inspect a Recovery Point without affecting production. The clone runs in its own SyFS namespace; the source VM is untouched.
# Pick a Recovery Point and clone it into the test VLANsyctl recovery-point list vm-erp-01 --window 24hsyctl recovery-point clone \--rp vm-erp-01@2026-04-12T14:18:08Z \--name vm-erp-01-test \--network test-vlan-90 \--power-on✓ Clone vm-erp-01-test online · isolated · source untouched
Use this when the clone is actually what you want — typical after an app-level error where the most recent VM state is bad but a 5-minute-old Recovery Point is good.
Confirm the clone behaves correctly in isolation.
SynetoOS console → right-click clone → "Promote to production".
Original VM powered off and renamed *-replaced; clone inherits identity, MAC, IP, network attachments.
Clone takes over. SLA Policy continues. Subsequent Recovery Points stack onto the same dataset.
After validation, delete the *-replaced original to reclaim space.
Use this when the source VM must keep its existing UUID and references (e.g., licence-bound applications). The VM is overwritten in place from a Recovery Point.
Even Pattern 3 (the most destructive) captures the pre-restore state as an automatic Recovery Point. Undo is always one click away.
